Vespertine brings an inviting energy with him wherever he is, and his knowledge and passion for all types of music make him a perfect fit at CS. Plus, while we have many Carolinians on staff, Vespertine is the only employee born and raised in Durham!

Go-To Musical Genres RN:

It's kinda hard answering this because as a musician/lover of music...I like different flavors (Genres) but my top two are Jazz (Funk/Fusion Types Mostly) and Hip-Hop.

Favorite Records/Songs discovered at work:

I just recently discovered McCoy Tyner - Song of the New World album by accident a few months ago and it totally blew my mind!! So that has been my go-to album whenever I'm in the store. Also, The New Tony Williams Lifetime - Believe it album.

My all time favorite records are:

Bobby Humphrey - Fancy Dancer
Donald Byrd - Stepping into Tomorrow
St. Vincent - Actor
Alice Coltrane - Ptah, the El Daoud
Milt Jackson - SunFlower
Miles Davis - Big Fun & Live-Evil
Betty Davis - They Say I'm Different
Funkadelic - Maggot Brain
Joe Henderson - The Elements
Erykah Badu - Mama's Gun
Little Brother - The Listening
The Foreign Exchange - Leave it all Behind
Hiatus Kaiyote - Choose Your Weapon

Museums, Art Exhibits, Concerts, Checking/Curating the Cultural Scene around Durham silently reading political/music blogs, and throwing one of the most talked about Vinyl Parties in town. Last but not least, searching for the perfect sample.

Favorite Durham lunch spot:

Lilly's Pizza, Alivia's, Bull City Burger, Koumi's, Dame's Chicken & Waffles and Beyu Cafe.

What Do You Like About Working At CS?:

Discovering things that I had no clue of its existence in the upcoming auctions/storefront. Sharing similar music tastes/interests with the other employees. Meeting new people at the storefront and helping them discover other tunes they're not familiar with.
